SHOULD YOU WISH TO HELP US SUPPORT MORE SCHOOL CHILDREN IN UGANDA WITH NUTRITIOUS MEALS, THEN WE REMAIN ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR ANY DONATIONS, LARGE OR SMALL! JUST HEAD TO THE DONATE BUTTON!

Welcome to our Rafiki Thabo Cook Off Competition homepage! We are so happy that you want to take part! The competition will run until MIDNIGHT 26th JULY after which the winners will be announced.

Here you will find everything you will need to have fun cooking and enjoying a traditional Ugandan meal with your family, as well as how you can win a coveted place in our top prize ‘An hour with Prue’ workshop! More below on how to register, T&Cs and so on!

We urge you to take the authentic route to dining, no cutlery! Children and fun-loving adults alike will love it!

It is FREE to register and take part in our Rafiki Thabo Cook Off. We would welcome any voluntary donation you wish to make, however this is not a condition to taking part! This is a challenging year due to COVID 19, with lost income opportunities creating a potential shortfall of £80,000 and incremental costs which we had not budgeted for in excess of £10,000 in order to provide emergency food supplies to families of scholars needing our support in Lesotho and Kenya, so every penny counts!

Before we go any further, here is Prue Leith CBE with a special message for you:

READY

Please click here for the Ugandan recipe, a lovely bean stew with chapatis. This is chosen by Ugandan born author Lela Burbridge www.lelaburbridge.com, as one of her family’s favourite meals to cook and eat together.

To get ready, all you need to do is buy the ingredients and tell the family!

To Register: Make sure to ‘like’ us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and drop us a comment – that way we know you will receive our Cook Off updates! We would love for you to also share this far and wide!

If you are not on social media, please register by email to janne@rafiki-foundation.org.uk. We look forward to hearing from you!

Participants can cook the Rafiki Thabo Cook Off meal at any time, but in order to enter the competition any photos, videos or voluntary donations need to reach us before midnight on 26th July. Any photos or donations received after that time will be much cherished, but will not qualify for the competition.

To enter the competition please ‘like’ us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and drop us a comment. Please note that due to Prue Leith’s busy filming schedule, the Zoom workshop ‘an hour with Prue’ will take place in October. The date and time of this will be mutually agreed once Prue’s autumn availability is clear.

Depending on number of participants in the Rafiki Thabo Cook Off, we may run a further donations’ week during the summer, from which another two lucky winners will be offered a place in 'an hour with Prue'. This will be based on the two highest donations made during that week.

There will be maximum 6 winners joining the Zoom workshop ‘an hour with Prue’ to keep it intimate.

Unless you tell us otherwise, we will share your photos and videos on our social media. Lela will pick the winning photos! Judges verdict is final in the photo competition. The ‘final draw’ and the ‘donate draw’ will be done at random in the presence of an independent witness.

Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.

Please note that the HEAT African restaurant is located in Oxford. We will endeavour to make sure that non local participants are allocated one of the books instead of the meal if required.
